I grew up on the coast. When I was
young my father was a lobster fisherman and I spent much of my
childhood running up and down the piers of Southwest Harbor and
Tremont while dad worked on his boat. So when the weather is
nice and I need to get out of the office one of my favorite places
to escape is Portland's waterfront. Something about the
fishing boats and the city, tradition and progress, old Maine and
new Maine occupying the same space fires my imagination and makes me
feel at home.
